I have trouble feeling sorry for many of Bernie Madoff's victims. In fact, sometimes I feel more sympathy for that old crook who, when looking at his 150-year sentence for pulling off a $65 billion Ponzi scam, knows he will surely Uve out his days in jail.
And all this for doing what was surely nefarious but, to be honest, had many willing actors until they became woeful victims.
Ah, it was good while it lasted, wasn't it Bernie? There was the penthouse apartment in Manhattan with a $40,000 Steinway piano, a $35,000 Persian rug, the $20,000 Chippendale tea table and accessories and bling galore for the missus.
There was also the $8 million beach house in Montauk, N.Y., an $8.5 million beach ...
