ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- Majd Zoorob of Southampton, Great Britain, James McKenzie of Flushing, Great Britain, and Tom Lee of Basingstoke, Great Britain, have developed a pyramidal photonic crystal light emitting device. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,615,398 on Nov. 10.
The patent has been assigned to Luxtaltek Corp., Chunan, Taiwan.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A light-emitting device (LED) is described which exhibits high extraction efficiency and an emission profile which is substantially more directional than from a Lambertian source.
