Wish list: G.M. Gord Ash's search for a manager took an intriguing twist when former Blue Jays players Paul Molitor and Buck Martinez were named to a list of four semifinalists. They join Larry Bowa, the only candidate without a previous franchise connection, and Tim Johnson, the Cubs' manager at Class AAA Iowa. Still on the perimeter is Davey Johnson, who has asked the Orioles to release him or extend his contract beyond 1998. Molitor declared for free agency last week and received a call from Ash the same night.
