In order to eliminate shortages of manpower in the apparel manufacturing industry, the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Government has requested universities to prepare training programs for apparel manufacturing workers.
Apparel manufacturing firms in Ho Chi Minh City alone account for nearly 60% of the Vietnamese apparel output. Apparel manufacturing firms will require 500,000 workers and 7,000 supervisory staff members by the year 2005 and these training programs are imperative. They plan to use these programs at rural apparel manufacturing training schools as well.
