GOING INTERNATIONAL

To the Editor: I was delighted that the Board of Governors (BOG) created ASME's new Region XIII at the 1997 Summer Annual Meeting (SAM).

When we crafted ASME's vision statement-"to be the premier organization for promoting the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering through the world"-at the 1993 BOG retreat in Newport, R.I., ASME took a significant step forward in its global journey.
