Make the most of this maturing market with a bit of master planning
Initial entry by a managed care organization into the field of workers' compensation is driven by either (1) employer demands, when the employer requests that the MCO already managing health benefits also handle workers' compensation; or (2) when it's driven by the introduction of state legislation requiring that injured employees use managed care methodologies.
An MCO entering the workers' compensation arena stands to benefit from a new revenue stream. That's good news. A well-organized MCO already has 90% of the tools necessary to build a workers' compensation business. That's more good news.
