Management of quality improvement: An empirical study

ABSTRACT

Managing a project is an important part of the quality improvement process. Nevertheless management practices in quality improvement projects have not received much research attention. The case study reported in this article focuses on the link between management practices and quality improvement performance. The findings indicate that quality improvement efforts that result in higher performance have a comparatively higher use of the basic management practices. Specifically comprehensive project plans, contingency plans, responsibility lists, and monthly progress reports are identified as the vital practices to use in an organization's quality initiative.
