Cosmetic surgery, typically a high-end service performed within the confines of a physician's private practice, has entered the mainstream hospital sector of Orange County.

Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, owned by Long Beach Memorial Health Systems, recently devoted an entire wing of its facility to face lifts, laser resurfacing, eyelid surgery, tummy tucks, breast augmentation or reduction, liposuction and other procedures.

Orange Coast Memorial execs said that incidents of cosmetic surgeries gone wrong, including the recent death of an Orange County woman, are the basis for adding a full-service cosmetic surgery unit.
