Those working in child protection are experiencing a sense of anticipation - change is in the air. We eagerly await the Lord Laming's report on his Inquiry into the Death of Victoria Climbie, expected to be published by the end of the year.
In establishing his inquiry Lord Laming said that he hoped his report would mark a 'turning point in child protection.' While many thousands of children are effectively protected, too many are slipping through the net. Recent months have seen a number of tragic child killings in circumstances that are just as horrific as those experienced by Victoria.
