In 2000 the population shifts occurring in California resulted in a situation in which no one ethnic group was in the majority. Rather than an aberration, this movement toward an increasingly multicultural society is spreading throughout the United States. It is estimated that by 2015 one-third of those living in the United States will be from "so-called minority" groups.
