JACKSON - It may sound strange, but owning and operating a funeral home has been a childhood dream for Damian Murriel - at least it has been ever since he started working in the business.

And now Murriel, funeral director at Atlanta's Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home Inc., where the wake for TLC's Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes' was held, is being given that chance. With the help of a private investor, Murriel has purchased the historic Jackson Memorial Funeral Home on the corner of Woodrow Wilson and Martin Luther King Boulevard. He'll move back to his native city next month and plans to open Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, formerly Denton Funeral Home, for business Jan. 1.
