When Cale asked a student for his perceptions of Native Americans, that was his simple summation. So Cale decided to bring them alive in rural Maine.

Using a grant in part from the National Endowment for the Arts, Cale traveled with two elders from local tribes to eight celebration gatherings in Maine and neighboring regions.
