Professor Donald Woods has developed a sure-fire method to shake up his engineering courses. When his students need a change of pace, he simply instructs them to spend about five minutes introducing themselves with a handshake to five or so classmates. As part of the exercise, the McMaster University chemical engineering professor asks his students to rate their classmates' handshakes on a scale of 1 to 10. When giving a rating of 5 or below, the students gently offer suggestions for improvement.
