High Speed Skimmer Shines at Ohmsett Spill Response Center Officials at Ohmsett-the National Oil Spill Response Test Facility in Leonardo, New Jersey-recently performed a high speed skimmer evaluation test for the U.S. Coast Guard. Officials at that agency were seeking an in-line boom and skimmer system capable of recovering oil from the water surface at tow speeds of 3 knots and above. This new system will become support equipment within the U.S. Coast Guard VOSS inventory.
