INTRODUCTION
New Zealand, along with the other members of the Commonwealth, is bound by a wide range of international human rights obligations and treaties.1 This Article considers the subject matter and characteristics of those human rights obligations, the general constitutional status of human rights treaties in New Zealand law, the legislative implementation of human rights treaties, and judicial approaches to the interpretation of legislation in the light of human rights instruments. It concludes by discussing information and education and by evaluating some constitutional questions.
