The State Journal to place newspapers in state schools

CHARLESTON - The State Journal recently became West Virginia's newest participant in Newspapers in Education (NIE), a nationwide education program that puts newspapers in the classroom.

NEE is a cooperative effort of newspapers, local businesses and schools working together to provide up-to-date information for classroom instruction. Treating newspapers as living textbooks, the program is designed to incorporate newspapers as part of a student's daily curriculum.

The State Journal, a weekly statewide business publication, soon will be heading to classrooms in the Metro Valley and eventually across the entire state, according to Tim Booth, circulation manager.
