Sellers proceed with caution: The Far East's response to the Western concept of "intellectual property rights"

Intellectual property rights long have been recognized in the Western culture. The first known Western intellectual property law legislation was the English Statute of Monopolies, which was enacted in 1623. Thereafter, the founding fathers of the United States recognized their citizens' rights to useful articles in the Constitution, which was drafted to contain what is commonly known as the intellectual property clause, at Article I, Section 8, Clause 8.
