Freedom's Excelsior Goes Broadsheet to Lure More Ads St. John Faithful Hail From as Far as Florida; Lawrence Ponder Relishes Fat Spat
Excelsior is getting a facelift for its 10th anniversary.
The Spanish-language weekly newspaper, published by Irvine-based Freedom Communications Inc., debuted a new look about a week ago.
Among the changes: a switch from tabloid to a broadsheet format, which is used by sibling The Orange County Register and other major dailies across America.
General manager Mike Cano said he hopes the move lures more advertisers. They've been asking for the switch, he said.
