Article: Irvine Sensors Working With Boeing on Wearable Computer Procom Changes Its Pitch at Cruttenden Conference

It's what all the fashionable soldiers will be wearing. Costa Mesa-based Irvine Sensors Corp. has a $1.3 million order from the Boeing Co. to develop the innards of a wearable computer using its three-dimensional, chip-stacking technology.

"Wearable computers are the key to integrated communications and information management systems for the next-generation warfighter," said Michael Bailey, principal investigator for Boeing. The project aims to pack the power of a high-end workstation into a half-pound device about the size of a deck of cards.

The computer will be fully voice-activated and integrated to the body, something the companies call "advanced humionics." No word on whether that ...
