Nuclear medicine's educational future: Good news, bad news

It is the best of times; it is the worst of times. Nuclear medicine, in a global sense, is thriving. New radiopharmaceuticals are being developed; PET, particularly in oncology, is becoming recognized as a powerful clinical tool; and nuclear cardiology has become an essential part of the standard of care for patients with coronary artery disease. Numerous other examples of recent applications of radioactive tracer methodology abound: PET/CT, lymphoscintigraphy, and antibody therapy.
