NV-shuttle--enhanced undulating vehicle

Re-engineered for Lower Cost, Optimized Performance, Maximum Load, Collects Ocean-Basin Scale Data from Ships of Opportunity

In 1994, Chelsea Instruments, together with the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), (Centre for Coastal and Marine Sciences, Natural Environment Research Council) embarked on the development of a new oceanographic towed undulating vehicle, under the U.K. Department of Trade and Industry's Support for Products under Research (SPUR) scheme. The overall aim of the project was three fold:

Optimize undulation performance

Reduce manufacturing cost

Increase payload with greater versatility.
