A prince of a hero

FROM THE ONSET of its triumphant debut on Sunday, February 13, 1937, Prince Valiant was popular but not yet the magnificent epic comic strip that it would become. Still, the foundation was laid for a format which remains the same today as it did in the 1930s. Early in the strip the entire chronicle was prophesied by Horrit, the Witch of the Fens, to the son of the exiled King Aguar of Thule.
