Roth IRAs drawing interest

The buzz about Roth IRAs that started with federal legislation last year hasn't subsided now that the new financial-planning tool is available.

"These are now household words--Roth IRAs," said Karen Mersereau, a certified financial planner with Katz Sapper & Miller.

But local investment strategists say clients are cautiously weighing their options before signing up for Roth IRAs, which offer different tax and withdrawal features than traditional individual retirement accounts.

"For the most part, we have people asking questions instead of taking action," said Mark Patton, president of Indianapolis-based Patton Investment Management.
