The Defense Department's tactical control system is a program structured to provide joint warfighters with a surface command. control, communications and data dissemination system for unmanned aerial vehicles. During a variety of landand sea-based exercises. this system is demonstrating initial functions and versatility.

Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Israel, USAF, director of the Defense Airborne Reconnaissance Office (DARO) characterizes the tactical control system as a low-risk initiative, composed mostly of software, software-related hardware, and ground and ship support equipment.
