Ronald Powaski has written a comprehensive account of the Cold War which will probably prove useful as an orthodox textbook for some years to come. It embraces much of recent historical revisionism and the reinterpretation made possible by the opening up of the archives, both American and Soviet. It is judicious in its conclusions. There is no overt triumphalism here. The author has no time for those who claim that Ronald Reagan won the Cold War.
