State Bank of La Crosse plans to ask state and federal regulators this month for permission to merge with its sister company, First National Bank in La Crescent, Minn.
They are the two banking subsidiaries of First Bancorporation Inc., also based in La Crosse.
The La Crescent bank will begin using the State Bank name if the merger is approved by the Federal Reserve System and by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions, said Steven Burgess, president and chief executive officer of the holding company and of its two banking subsidiaries.
