As has been well documented on the pages of JOM, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has worked with the aluminum industry through the Aluminum Association to develop a technology roadmap. The DOE is represented in the project through its Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Office of Industrial Technologies and the Industries of the Future initiative. The roadmap is designed to focus the work of government, universities, and industry in accelerating the development and deployment of the aluminum industry's highest-priority research needs.
