Zoning restrictions may get in way of ice cream maker's plans for expansion

Ice cream maker Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream is proposing a 16,000 square foot expansion of its Sugar House facility, formerly known as Snelgrove's, but those plans won't come to fruition if the new use is proved to facilitiate manufacturing, which isn't allowed under current zoning.

Located along the 2100 S. corridor that comprises the core of Sugar House's business district, the area is known for its pedestrian-friendly, walkable scale something residents don't wish to see trampled by expanded manufacturing uses.
