Social cognitive theory: A framework for therapeutic recreation practice

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the ability of social cognitive theory to serve as a framework for therapeutic recreation practice. The theory is well suited for such a role due to a number of characteristics. First, findings from a vast number of studies have shown it to be an accu rate explanation of behavior and behavior change. Second, underlying constructs and relationships among those constructs have been clearly identified.
