Members of the C-5 Aircraft Directorate at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., are playing a key role in major improvements to the Galaxy that will increase its mission readiness.
A team at the directorate has developed a program to modernize the aircraft's avionics systems and is putting the final touches to a proposal request to make the program a reality. Release of the request will open work on the program to bids from private entities.
"The C-5 Avionics Modernization Program really combines two major modification programs-the All Weather Flight Controls System and Global Air Traffic Management," team leader Carlos Cortez said.
