Users' agendas will dominate control technology, says a builder
Interest in open architecture controls has risen sharply in the past few years to the point that the concepts first introduced under the Next Generation Controller (NGC) project eight years ago have been clarified. Various segments of manufacturing industry now realize that each can derive specific and different benefits from open architecture controls, though their perception of what an open architecture control is differs widely. Those most affected by open architecture include control builders, machine tool builders, research and development groups, and end users.
