Biopsy-proven cases respond to oral antiandrogen; regrowth possible
Paris - In women with chronic hair loss, biopsy to diagnose androgenetic alopecia is a useful method for predicting patients likely to respond to oral antiandrogen therapy, Rodney Sinclair, M.D., said at the World Congress of Dermatology meeting.
He presented the results of an open study demonstrating the efficacy of treatment with spironolactone or cyproterone acetate in 80 women with clinical and histological features of androgenetic alopecia.
