Cannon wins second, first in 10 years

Brent Cannon flipped his visor down, shut out thoughts of drivers colliding in the Super Gas final minutes earlier, and won his first national event in 10 years.

Just before Cannon and Guy Aguayo were to meet for the Super Comp title, Super Gas finalist Greg Carrillo plowed into event winner Todd Stewart beyond the lights, necessitating a 20-minute cleanup and giving Aguayo and Cannon plenty of time to think about what was on the line. "Our engines were already running when it happened," Cannon said. "They were just starting to motion us forward. I didn't think about it. I guess it's the ice in every race car driver's veins. Accidents happen."
