The emergency destruction of optically and magnetically stored information is a growing requirement among officials involved in high-security military, intelligence and commercial financial sectors. Compact discs in various formats rank as the top carriers of digital information in the cyberspace era. This growth in disc use is likely to continue accelerating with the recent introduction of digital versatile disc formats that work on the same principles.
