If we build it, will they come? For hospitals, that may depend on how patientfriendly the facility is compared to what the competition has to offer.
"Now you have to keep the needs of patients in mind when you build," said Jim Ainsworth of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp (BMHC). "It's important that you fulfill the needs of patients and make it as convenient as possible."
The current trend among hospitals with money to expand and renovate is to consolidate health care services, such as outpatient services, labor and delivery, and cancer treatment, so that patients can get their treatment in one-stop-shop fashion, said Ainsworth, who is vice president and market leader for BMHC's ...
