"A good practice model will be influenced by the past, reflect current realities, and provide a progressive, dynamic direction for the future" (Voelkl, Carruthers, & Hawkins, 1997, p. 212). This critique will attempt to examine Van Andel's "Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Service Delivery and TR Outcome Models" using these criteria. This critique will highlight the contributions Van Andel's models offer to the TR discipline. It will also identify areas in which these models need further clarity, refinement, and development so that they more fully communicate the nature, scope, and outcomes of TR.
