Article: The business excellence model: Will it deliver?

John Seddon, widely known for his critical view of ISO 9000, was the first plenary session speaker at the Institute's 1998 Summer School. His subject- the business excellence model. John might have been expected to level the same criticisms at the BEM as he has at ISO 9000, however, John joked that he only has two problems with it: Content and Method. He said the BEM cannot be faulted in the way of ISO 9000 because, unlike ISO 9000, the BEM has no theory and, as the guidance indicates, you can interpret it in whatever way you choose.
