Daijun Waukanabo ran a finger over the fish's bleeding gill. Peering up from behind glasses perched on the end of his nose, he listened as the late October wind howled against the frost-etched windows. Before him, antiseptic light spilled in a bright pool beneath the lamp clamped on the far edge of the table.
