In the Maritimes, loggers watch the constantly shifting array of forest machine dealers with the same high level of interest that regular viewers watched last year's final episodes of Survivor. In fact this is a good analogy for the dangerous game in which dealers find themselves these days.
Against this backdrop, the entry of Ponsse cut-to-length (CTL) machinery to the Canadian market had been anticipated for some time. Ponsse Oyj is an aggressive upstart from Finland that has carved out a substantial slice of the market in Europe, where they are battling it out with established names like Timberjack and Valmet.
