This article summarizes a 14-year journey toward education for children and youth with disabilities in the public schools of the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Begun by families, the journey was joined by a talented special educator and by political forces in a synergy that is leading to statewide programming to improve opportunities and outcomes for students with disabilities.
