In a special VA briefing in September, VFW officials received some good news. VA Secretary Togo West announced that veterans in all of VA's seven priority categories will be eligible to receive health care in fiscal year 1999. It was a pleasant surprise for VFW, which was expecting that only the first six categories would qualify for care. "This decision marks a milestone in efforts by the VFW to make VA more accessible to a larger veteran population," said Tom Pouliot, VFW Commander-in-Chief. "We have long called for making quality health care accessible to all veterans."
