P.D. George parent buys insulation business

Altana Chemie, parent company of St. Louis-based insulation manufacturer P.D. George Co., has signed an agreement to acquire the global wire enamel and impregnating resin businesses of Schenectady International, Inc., of Schenectady, N.Y. The P.D. George Co. plans to incorporate the business into its U.S., Canadian, and Mexican operations. Founded in St. Louis in 1919, P.D. George is a global supplier of specialty polymers for application in the electrical and electronics industries. Recent acquisitions have included Epoxylite and Ripley Resin in 2001, Guardian Resin Corp. in 2002, and Viking Products and Schenectady International this year.
