Sometimes a reviewer is fortunate to be asked to comment on a book which is timely. I feel that this is certainly the case with this issue of "Problems in Anaesthesia", dealing with acute pain. It has become obvious in many countries that the funding of anaesthesia-based acute pain services is a problem and this 130 page book makes some very pertinent comments about that.
