Saying they received permission from the city to move into their new church home but are now locked out, hundreds of parishioners Sunday defied inspectors and marched to their new house of worship anyway.
The parishioners of the Progressive Baptist Church, headed by Pastor John Digby, marched from their old church site at 735 E. 134th St. to the new building located at 26 E. 127th, and stayed there, even though city inspectors had forbidden their entry.
"We're outraged, furious," said church spokeswoman Betty Boles on behalf of Digby, who has been in the Roseland area for the past 40 years. "We will not be moved...," said an irate Boles. "We were cleared over two weeks ago to move into our ...
