Alzheimer's disease (AD) currently has no cure and is estimated to cost in excess of $ 100 billion per year in the United States.1 The progressive nature of the condition has caused Alzheimer's disease to be the third most costly disease to treat.2 At 8 different Omnicare long-term care facilities, the treatment of 183 patients was reviewed, finding 107 patients with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or both.
