CHARLESTON -- If you're one of those people who likes your cookie sheets to be nice and flat, Charlie Black knows how you feel.

Fed up with cookie sheets made of thin metal that bends when it is heated, Black created a new type -- Charlie Black's Perfect No-Touch Cookie Sheet. Now Black is selling his cookie sheets in the Charleston area, and making plans to produce a revolutionary cake pan next.

Black's sheets are made of aluminum and he produces them in a small workshop beside his house near Sissonville.

In the workshop, the sheets are bent and the edges ground down. The sheets then are put into a hydraulic press, which creates raised dots on the undersides.
