Spokane Transfer & Storage Co. doesn't go very far, but has come a long way.

Founded here as a small moving concern in 1964, the company now commands a 35-truck fleet, employs 51 people, and logs about 1.4 million miles annually.

With plans for a possible new facility looming and alternative lines of business picking up steam, Spokane Transfer President Doug Ross says the company still has a ways to go.

"It seemed like we were the new kids on the block for such a long time," says Ross, who owns the company with his younger brothers, Dave and Kent. "Now, it seems like we're one of the older trucking companies around Spokane."
