With the explosion of the on-demand market, the time was right for GATF to add a digital color printing study to its list of independent research efforts. Like the CTP survey, this study, too, brought some unexpected results.
Frank Kanonik opened the session by tracing the growth in this market from the birth of digital printing in 1993 to its status at the end of 1998, when the number of installations had reached 10,000, including devices with engines from Indigo, Xeikon, Xerox, Canon, and TR Systems.
