Article: Everett company to repair Greene Street Bridge

The Spokane City Council has given Concrete Barrier Inc., of Everett, Wash., a $611,000 Contract to repair the Greene Street Bridge.

The repair project, scheduled to begin in mid-April, involves preventive maintenance to keep early-stage deterioration on the 44-year-old bridge from progressing, says Dick Raymond, a city project engineer. The project is expected to take about six months to complete.

Concrete Barrier will replace all 44 of the bridge's bearings, Raymond says. Bearings are points in a bridge structure that provide support while allowing slight movement, such as that caused by expansion and contraction due to temperature changes, he says.
