This article reports a survey on career development of female student affairs professionals and graduate paraprofessionals from a Southeastern public land-grant institution. Participants of the study were found to have had specific purposes for joining student affairs, and face different challenges in the field. Their personal strengths, aspirations for highest level positions, and sources of personal and professional support were also reported. An important finding suggests that women with differing years of service intend to leave the student affairs profession.
